The largest glacier in Europe by volume. Contains 3,100 km3 of ice. Covers 8% of Iceland. Under it are active volcanoes including Grimsvotn. The 1996 eruption caused a massive flood. Jokulsarlon lagoon at its edge is Icelands most famous sight.
