Glacier Bay had no glaciers 250 years ago - it was a single massive glacier. Now over 1,000 glaciers in the bay. John Muir visited in 1879 and campaigned for its protection. The bay has retreated 100 km since the 1700s. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
